Colitis or crohns
It's not a hemeriod. I already had a colonoscopy. It's not a polyp. It's one of those two so said my doctor. But i really would like to figure out which one it is. My weight flusuateds up and down. Thanks for talking to me. I was starting to think no one was gunna reply to my post. :(
The following isn't the most traditional of questions, but have you ever had a "numero deux" and saw your food in the toilet? if you haven't, then i would suspect colitis, the bleeding you are having may be a fistula. If you have, this is called "loss of food stuff, and is linked with your food being removed from your body without being absorbed of its nutrients, in which case is the beginning or first sign of a crohn's flare up.
might i also ask if you had a CT scan? That's how i was diagnosed in 2006. If you haven't had one, I suggest it.. If you live in a small town, it's likely the doctors there aren't as familiar with these two, and ergo, know not of the differences.
Depending on how open minded you are, if you live in california, or any other state that has medicinals, Cannibis is a most wonderful way to be able to eat, and absorb the required nutrients from your food(as long as you eat right, dont just binge on little debbies) and brighten your mood as well.
I experience passing lots of blood too and large quarter size clots (prolly atleast 10 a day...ranging from a dime in size to a quarter)... I'm sorry your experiencing this... I think its scary... Ive been recently diagnosed with Crohns. For me to they tossed back and forth colitis and crohns for a little bit...then I went to a big dr to get a second opinion...thats who diagnosed me with Crohns. Hope you get answers and relief soon!
I'm not a doctor. I've had Crohn's for 20 years. Reading your list of symptoms, I would wager you have Crohn's, too. But get more tests, so you know for sure. If you had ulcerative colitis, the colonoscopy would have confirmed the presence of the disease, since your GI doc gets a good look at the large bowel. When I was diagnosed with Crohn's, they did a colonoscopy and then an upper GI (which consists of drinking chalky-tasting, gag-inducing Barium and then they take x- rays as the Barium contrast travels through the intestine, small and large). If given the choice, I would opt for the CT scan. With the CT, The contrast solution is mixed with Gatorade; it tastes a lot better than Barium. As long as you aren't allergic to iodine, which they inject through an IV to activate the contrast, the procedure is pretty tolerable. I hope everything works out for you.

I have Ulcerative Colitis and it sounds of that is what you are experiencing. Have they done a stool sample. When I got it at 10 1/2 38 now that's what they first started out with. And does milk upset your stomach. Please don't eat dairy. And they also started out with a barium enema on me back then, and now they do colonocopys at my age. And have they done a sigmoidoscopy yet. If they see a spastic colon too. I think above my answer there talking bout a barium enema as well. Did you see the GI yet since your test?
When under control ulcerative colitis doesn't show up or colitis on a colonscopy. Mines been out of wack for a while now but I'm not haven't been bleeding. Oh sorry started talkin bout myself. Well see if mine coming up will show colitis. Never understood why doctors always say"I don't see colitis" Ive only had it since I was 10.
Lache09 what state are you in right now?
Before being diagnosed with Crohn's at 14, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at age five. I've had barium enemas and I've had several upper GI's with small bowel follow through. The procedures are similar. The only major difference is how the Barium gets into the intestines -- mouth or, well, the other end. Going by the symptoms described (bloody stool, mucus, stomach pain, etc.), there would be some portion of your large intestine that looked inflamed. A colonoscopy allows your GI to examine the entire large intestine, in most cases. Sometimes they can manage to get the scope as far as the terminal ilium (where the small bowel empties into the large bowel). Crohn's is usually located here, where the scope can't reach. In any case, your symptoms are serious and you want to get an accurate diagnosis even though the treatments for Crohn's and UC are similar. My advice: take advantage of modern technology. The less invasive, the better.

Hi Lache09
How long have these symptoms been going on for?Is your weight consistent?hemorrhoids can create such symptoms but can also be a polyp which can turn nasty if not treated. You have to have a colonoscopy to determine what is going on.Goodluck and let me know how you go.
